You once called me articulate
I couldn’t possibly forget
I stood naked before the class
Waiting for a cold assessment
Of my character
Who I am as a person
Stripped away with mere words
Words that no amount of years could heal
Instead you looked at me
Told me I could do
What I set out to do
And I thank you so much
For you see
I still haven’t a clue
What ostentatious means
